What does self love even mean? There are so many voices espousing the benefits of self-love yet it is seldom experienced in its full capacity. We often approach self-love from the intellect when it is truly experienced within the body and the deeper sense of self. Self-love is an act of courageously witnessing what arises within and expanding our ability to accept what’s there.

Over the course of an autumn weekend in upstate New York, we will explore the embodiment of self-love using movement and stillness as access points. What does self-love actually feel like, how do we cultivate it, and how do we live a life practicing it? Using the interplay between yoga, Qoya dance, and meditation we will access a new relationship to both self and the love-of-self.

Join us for the turning of the leaves, a retreat from the bustle of the city, and the gift of self-love.

The retreat will be held at the beautiful Won Dharma Center in Upstate New York, nestled on 400 acres overlooking the Hudson Valley and the Catskill Mountains. Surrounded by wooded foothills with a nearby brook, the retreat center is a serene natural setting for contemplation and renewal.  A green community designed with sensitivity to nature and issues of sustainable design, the center consists of eco-friendly buildings designed to provide a tranquil and meditative atmosphere. The Won Dharma Center won the 2010 Design Award from Faith & Form / IFRAA International Awards Program for Religious Art and Architecture.

All prices include your meditation and movement class sessions, room costs, three delicious vegetarian meals daily, and access to the Won Dharma grounds and activities.  The center is surrounded by several magnificent state parks perfect for exploration and contemplation.

For some additional pampering, retreat attendees also have access to Won Dharma’s restorative massage and acupuncture treatments as well as nearby canoeing and kayaking (additional charges apply).

Won Dharma has won design awards for their minimal yet warm approach to their rooms and gathering halls. Each room provides a Zen setting for a weekend of relaxation and reconnection to self.

"We believe there is a potent alchemy in linking movement and meditation and letting them dance together. By combining these modalities, we guide women to create space within the body to feel, hear and cultivate a deeper connection to the all-knowing part of themselves."

- Gemma Gambee & Kari Woldum

Gemma Gambee

Gemma teaches a simple, natural meditation technique designed to deeply rest the body and effortlessly expand conscious awareness. Gemma is classically trained in the ancient Indian traditions of Yoga, Bhakti, Tantric Shaiviam and the Vedas. Her teachings have been developed over a decade of study, daily practice, and self development.

Kari Woldum

Kari is a movement teacher devoted to offering women a pathway into a more feeling-based experience. Utilizing a combination of yoga, Qoya, and immersive experiences, Kari guides women to slow down, harness their innate intuition, reconnect with the natural world, and write new scripts for their lives.
